Default Sync Works but time is off -5 hours.

We are having an issue with the time being off by -5 hours on some, but not all, of the Android platform. iPhones and Windows Mobile phones are fine. There does not appear to be a rhyme or reason as to Android version. We initially thought it was an Andriod 2.1 vs 2.2 issues but some 2.1s work and some don't. I have a Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) and it is one of the ones that are off by -5 hours. Suggestions?

Can you create a log file of such a situation so I can see what's happening ?
Time zone setting is the same for these devices ?
Can you test it with the latest version 1.7.2.19 ?

Best Regards,
Beat

I had sent a set of logs yesterday using the function built in to the client. Is there a different procedure? I have the 1.7.2.12 client, where do I get the 1.7.2.19 client? As far as I know the time zone settings are the same for all devices. Mine is set at

Automatic (GMT -5, Central Daylight Time)

Here is a list of the different phones we tested and their results so far...

Phone: HTC Droid Incredible
Carrier: Verizon
System OS: 2.1
Synthesis Version: 1.7.2.12
Synthesis Works?: Yes

Phone: Motorola Droid
Carrier: Verizon
System OS: 2.1
Synthesis Version: 1.7.2.12
Synthesis Works?: No

Phone: Google/HTC Nexus One
Carrier: T-Mobile
System OS: 2.2
Synthesis Version: 1.7.2.12
Synthesis Works?: Yes

Phone: Samsung Captivate (Galaxy S) <---My Phone
Carrier: AT&T
System OS: 2.1
Synthesis Version: 1.7.2.12
Synthesis Works?: No

Hope this helps.

Thanks,
Mike

According to the log file it looks like the device recognizes the time zone as "America/Chicago" (5 hours east UTC).

So the assumption is that some device have "America/Chicago" in their table, others have not. Can you provide me with a log file with a working device for comparison ?

Thanks
Beat

Do you want them to send it the same way I did?

Thanks,
Mike

I appear to have it working now. I had the Legacy and the Identify as Andriod client switch turned on. Turned both off and now it appears to be working. I am going to play around with it some more. Thanks for your help.

Ok, thanks for this feedback.
Both points make sense.

The Android identification has been added for Oracle, as they will recognize exactly this identification in their future profiles. But it's not yet in for their current version. So for the time being it's defitively the better choice to switch it off. If switched off, the Android client identifies the same way as our Windows Mobile SyncML Client, so most of the settings are then perfectly correct for Oracle.

The legacy mode is using VCALENDAR 1.0 instead of VCALENDAR 2.0 as preferred format, where the time zone are treated differently (or in other words, not really considered with VCALENDAR 1.0, only a UTC based time)

Regards,
Beat
