Default Error Code = 400 - Egroupware

Please help. I have been struggling to sync my Treo 600 with Egroupware. I have tried every setting trying to get it to work, including upgrading my server to php 5.1. Can you help me get sync. Here are my specifics.

Status/What happens
Use settings from below
Click start
Approve window to overwrite device
starting waiting, processing, sending, waiting, slow sync (for all 4), waiting "Error Code=400" (in the beta version, the error is 10400 and the log shows "Slow Sync for Notes, - Failed: Sync completed (10400), - Device: add 0, upd 0, del 0 items - Server: add 0, upd 0, del 0 items - Errors: device 0, server 0 - Received 0 Sent 0 bytes

Client
syncml_client_std_en-25068 (I have tried syncml_client_std_en-2996.prc too).
Paid, licensed, version.
Settings (for non beta version)
Proxy all blank
url: have tried http and https ://example.com/egroupware/rpc.php
Username and password are a test user I set up (same error happens with my real user)
Contacts - Reload Device - ./contacts
Events - Reload Device - ./calendar (only from -30 to +90)
Tasks - Reload Device - ./tasks
Notes - Reload Device - ./notes

Server
Egroupware 1.3.013 (the latest SVN version), which according to Lars, works.
Apache 2.0.52
Php 5.1.4
Centos 4.4
The link to http://example.com/egroupware/rpc.php says
"You should access this URL only with a SyncML enabled device."

The date range options is probably not supported by eGW. Please try again with "only from..." disabled. Please also see our FAQ entry on this.

That is not it, but thank you.
I have tried syncing contacts only, calendar only, note only, etc and the error is the same.

For the record, I tried with the days limitation removed and the error code is the same.

Any suggestions on how to debug this? I have paid for the Synthesis client and it is not working. Please advise.

Have you tried setting the client to SyncML 1.1 only (in Settings -> Options)?

The error 400 means that there is a fundamental protocol problem.

I'd need to hear from eGW folks what their server thinks is wrong with our SyncML messages.

We can't fix the eGW server. Our clients are widely known to be well compatible with the standard, and work fine with many servers.

Of course we'll help to find why they don't work ok with eGW, but for that we need that someone first does server side analysis who knows eGW internals - we don't.
