Default WM5 device (mio A701 ) connecting to Linux...

After two months I managed to get my WM5 device to connect to my Linux Funambol server with Bluetooth. (The synhesis server will be installed shortly.)

The biggest issue I had with the PDA client is that is not possible to give a "gateway".
I had a working PPP connection with ping and HTML working between my linux server and my device. When I used vxutil (freeware network utilities for WM5 ) I could ping and get HTML from my server but SyncML insisted to use a modem, gprs etc connection.

For the intrested: I implemented an OpenVPN connection on top of the PPP tunnel with a gateway redirect then it worked. But this is a solution that is not always possible for other colleagues.

So short: Is it possible to check if a server is possible, (pingable) and then use it without selecting an "official" modem etc... connection ?

Sparcky (I have offcial licenses for the PDA client and the Server)
