The Palm DB has a variable number of email address fields (up to 5 on old and 8 on new palms), but there is no differentiation between them. So that's why they come back without HOME or WORK attribute.

That's how Palm contacts DB works. There's nothing we can do in the client to change this.

But a SyncML server should be able to handle this situation. Of course, there's no way for a server to know which of two EMAIL;INTERNET:xxx@yyy.zz is WORK and which is HOME, but it should at least store both, and not discard one.

I have exactly the same problem with a pocketpc 2003 syncing to an egw server,
syncml generates two entries in a vcard with EMAIL,
both get inserted into egw as business mail, last one wins.
Syncing from the server to the device (after having changed the supported fields
in the address book in egw so that for a synthesis client, both email addresses
are included as supported fields) I get 2 email addresses for a contact on the device.
If I don't change the contact on the device this remains stable.

Yes, Windows Mobile's Pocket Outlook also does not have WORK/HOME attributes for email addresses, but just has three email address fields ("email", "email2" and "email3").

Well

How can we explain that Funabol client works fine synchronizing emails with the same application and device ?

Note : Funabol only synchronize contacts, not calendar (for the moment).

Sorry....

well if the synthesis client for pocketpc would insert
EMAIL, EMAIL2 and EMAIL3 instead of EMAIL for all 3 fields
it would work with egw

And it would break every standard this way

But actually, the 2.9.x Win Mobile clients do have a standard conformant way to distinguish the 3 email addresses: The have "X-Synthesis-Ref1,2,3" attribute. eGW could evaluate this attribute.
