Default Contact Groups

Hello!

I am using the SynML STD Client (1.9.5, 30 days trial) on a HTC Desire Z (Android 2.2) with a Funambol 9.0.0 Server, running on my own machine at home. To sync my calendar and contacs works fine in general.

But I noticed, that contact groups (friends, family, etc.) are not transmitted to the server. On the first glance it is not clear, if the client does not send or the server ignores them. But I assume it is the first case, since after chaning a goup the next sync does not send anything (according to the log).

Is the Synthesis client ignoring the groups in general or does it depend on the server capabilities?

(Remark: Since I do not have a desktop client up to now, I can not verify, if groups are transmitted in the other direction. All I do is checking the data directly in the mysql-database.)

Best regards,

Mark Proksch

The current version of the Android client (V1.9.6) does not support them.
There is no well documentated way found how these flags are readable/writeable from/to the Android database.

Thank you for your answer.

Groups would have been nice. I hope, you will find a way in later versions. Since everything else (that I need) works fine, I will buy the client.

BTW: For the sync on my office contacts I use the built-in exchange client of HTC. This one is able to sync groups, but I don't know if they patched something in the contact app.

Best regards,

Thanks for your positive feedback.
I know that some clients are storing such information in the comment field.
If done so, it will be of course synchronized as expected.
