Question SyncML client sends 4 http posts

Hi,

I am developing a SyncML server written in PHP language and I was wondering why the Synthesis SyncML clients sends 4 different http posts. All the http posts have a <SessionID>[value]</SessionID> tag which consists of a 1-4 sequence.

Can someone shed some light on this behaviour. Is this normal to be sending 4 http posts.. and I have to pick the right request depending on what the Server supports ?

cheers,
Jeffery

Unhappy Re: SyncML client sends 4 http posts

Hello anyone here?

Am I going to get any response here or do I need to buy support? Would appreciate it if I can get a response from Synthesis Staff, whether its a positive response or not.

Jeffery

I think it is probably because it sends data for each app it is trying to sync(contacts, tasks, calendar, notes).

I would try unchecking some of the apps to sync and then see if you have less posts

These are retries of the client. This is probably because your server does not (yet) properly respond to the client's request.

If you want to know in more detail what the client is doing, consider using the DBG version (available for registered users for PocketPC or Palm). This version generates very detailed logs that might help you.

No, the Synthesis clients sync all data types in one single sync session.

Whoops, sorry. A little knowledge is a dangerous thing

Thanks luz for the reply. I am a registered user and I will be getting hold of the debug version. And thanks Brady4747 for re-igniting my quest to work with synthesis.

cheers,
Jeffery

No problem Jeff

I am really excited about the synthesis stuff. It is just me and a partner in our small business so I will probably buy the standalone server from them soon as well as two clients. I do the technology stuff and he does more sales call stuff. We are small time, but try to employ tech as much as possible. we have been using various php mysql things for years to track our work, much of it my own design. We both have treos so I have been messing with syncml lately and synthesis seems like the best route so far. I had messed with funambol server and palm client for a long time off and on and was just frustrated(admittedly, I am a java idiot). Synthesis, I think, is going to make it much easier. Worth a few hundred $ I guess and even though it is 'commercial' the configuration options for the server at least are extendable beyond anything I would be doing anyway. Good luck on your quest.
