Default Syncing works great, but...

I'm using the Android SyncML client 1.7.2.6 on my HTC Desire for syncing contacts with the MDaemon server 11.0.2.
Syncing itself works great without any errors.
There are 2 contact providers i can choose from:

- Weather (com.htc.sync.provider.weather)
- firstname.lastname@googlemail.com (com.google)

First i tried to sync with the HTC weather provider and all contacts appeared in the HTC phone application but the Android contacts and groups application is still empty.
I then tried to sync with the googlemail provider. Now i have all contacts twice in the HTC phone application but still no contacts in the Android phone book.
I don't want to send all my contact data to Google, that was the reason why i chose the SyncML client.
Is there a way of getting all contacts into the Android phone book WITHOUT transfering them to Google?

Thanks in advance!

The only sure-fire way I've found to do this is to install funambol (which I can't get to sync cleanly, but does provide the contact data-store stuff that android +2.0 uses) and synthesis. Once you get Funambol far enough that it's created it's own datastore, you can sync into that with Synthesis and it will do exactly what you expect.

However until Synthesis provides it's own data store it's iffy if you can do this without having your contacts synced to Google. (since I'm basically after the same thing you are, a way to sync my SyncML stuff to my phone, contacts and calendar, without it going to Google as well)

Same with me. I did not get access to the contacts stored in my phone under the standard account "telephone". At thread (http://forum.synthesis.ch/showthread.php?t=2036) I described my problem. Please help...

As far as we know, Android maps the internal telephone entries to the gmail account. There seems to be no flag or database field to differenciate between these two types of address books.

Unfortunately not. This are two different lists. But here I found a workaround which has helped:

1) export complete contact list "Telefon" to SD card.
2) Then import SD-Export to google contact list
3) Then synthesis is working
