Is STD 2.x a free or paid upgrade from 1.8?

Hi all,

I have a user with SyncML STD for Android, version 1.8.something. Is his upgrade to 2.x free, or a paid upgrade? (I'm not sure if he got it directly from Synthesis, or via Google Marketplace/Play.)
